🗂️ Free Online Kanban Board
A free, browser-based kanban board that organizes your tasks into To Do, In Progress, and Done columns — no login required, no data ever leaves your device. Looking for a free Trello alternative? Toolio’s version is completely free and needs no sign-up.
Private by design. This tool runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, and it works offline.
About
Toolio's kanban board lets you add cards to any column, drag them to the next column as work progresses, reorder them inside a column, and edit or delete them at any time. If you delete a card by mistake, an Undo button brings it back for a few seconds. Everything is saved automatically in your browser's localStorage, with no account, no server and no internet connection needed. Changes made in another tab of the same browser appear automatically. Because all data stays on your device, it is completely private and still works when you are offline.
How to use
- Type your task into the input field at the bottom of any column and press Enter or click the + button.
- Drag a card to another column as work progresses, or drop it between two cards to reorder it. On a touchscreen, press and hold the card for a moment before dragging. The → button also moves a card to the next column.
- Use the ← button to move a card back if it needs more work.
- Click the pencil icon (✎) to edit a card's text at any time.
- Click the trash icon to delete a card when the task is no longer needed. An Undo button appears for a few seconds in case it was a mistake.
FAQ
- Is this kanban board free?
- Yes, completely free — no subscription, no trial limit, no hidden cost.
- Do you upload my task data to a server?
- No. All data is saved only in your browser's localStorage and never sent to any server. Your tasks are completely private.
- Does it work offline?
- Yes. Once the page is loaded, the kanban board works entirely offline — no internet connection is required to add, move, or edit cards.
- Will my cards still be there if I close the browser tab?
- Yes. Cards are saved automatically to localStorage, so they persist across page reloads and browser restarts as long as you use the same browser and do not clear site data.
- How many columns does the kanban board have?
- There are three fixed columns: To Do, In Progress, and Done. Cards can be moved freely between them by dragging or with the arrow buttons, and reordered inside a column by dragging.
- Can I add or rename the columns?
- The board is fixed at three columns, To Do, In Progress and Done, and that is a deliberate constraint rather than a missing feature. The point of a kanban board is to make work in progress visible, and boards that grow to eight columns stop doing that. For a personal board, three is usually the number that keeps it honest.
- How is this different from the checklist tool?
- A checklist answers whether something is finished. A board answers where everything currently is, which is the more useful question when several things are half-done at once. If nothing you track is ever partly complete, the checklist is the simpler fit.
