📷 Video Frame Grabber — Instant PNG Capture, No Upload
Grab any frame from a video as a PNG image instantly — just load your video, seek to the exact moment you want, and click Capture. Everything runs in your browser using the HTML5 canvas; your video is never uploaded anywhere.
Private by design. This tool runs entirely in your browser — nothing you enter is uploaded, and it works offline.
About
Video Frame Grabber uses the browser's built-in HTML5 video element and canvas API to extract frames at their native resolution. When you load a video file, it stays entirely on your device — nothing is sent to a server. Seek with the timeline scrubber, type an exact time such as 1:23.450, or step one frame at a time with the ◀ 1f and 1f ▶ buttons (the , and . keys do the same), then click Capture to render that frame onto a canvas and export it as a lossless PNG. The captured image matches the video's original pixel dimensions, so you get the same quality as a native video screenshot. Because the tool relies only on standard web APIs, it works in any modern browser — including on mobile — and functions completely offline once the page is loaded.
How to use
- Click 'Choose a video' and select a video file from your device — it stays local, never uploaded.
- Drag the timeline scrubber, type a time such as 1:23.450 in the time box and press Enter, or step one frame at a time with the ◀ 1f and 1f ▶ buttons (or the , and . keys) to reach the exact frame you want to capture.
- Click 'Capture this frame' — the current frame is drawn onto the canvas at full video resolution.
- Click 'Download PNG' to save the captured frame as a lossless PNG image to your device.
FAQ
- Is this tool free to use?
- Yes, completely free — no account, no subscription, no hidden fees. Open the page and start grabbing frames immediately.
- Is my video uploaded to a server?
- No. Your video never leaves your device. All processing uses the browser's HTML5 canvas API entirely client-side — no data is ever sent to any server.
- What image quality and resolution will the captured PNG be?
- The PNG is exported at the video's native resolution — if your video is 1920x1080, the PNG will be 1920x1080. PNG is lossless, so there is no compression artefact; you get a pixel-perfect snapshot of that frame.
- What video formats are supported?
- Any format your browser can play natively — typically MP4 (H.264/H.265), WebM (VP8/VP9/AV1), and OGG. MP4 has the widest compatibility across all browsers and devices.
- Does it work on mobile devices?
- Yes. The tool uses only standard HTML5 and canvas APIs that are supported on modern mobile browsers including iOS Safari and Android Chrome. Simply pick a video from your camera roll or file storage and capture frames the same way.
- Can I capture one exact frame?
- Yes. Pause the video, then use the ◀ 1f and 1f ▶ buttons (or the , and . keys) to move one frame at a time, or type a time such as 12.5 or 0:12.500 and press Enter. The box next to the buttons shows the estimated frame rate the steps are based on. Dragging the timeline or pressing the arrow keys on the video player moves in bigger jumps, so use the frame buttons for the final adjustment before you click Capture this frame.
- It says this browser can't play my file. What now?
- The tool can only capture formats your browser can play. MP4 (H.264) and WebM usually work everywhere, while H.265/HEVC (common on iPhone videos) and some other codecs depend on your browser and device. Try another browser, or convert the video to MP4 (H.264) first.
